We Are Saving Lives!

As we approach the end of 2014, the Baby Safe Sleep Coalition is thrilled to share the news that there have been ZERO confirmed unsafe sleep deaths in Monroe County (as of 12/19/14).

We want to thank all of our Coalition members, Monroe County and New York State, local hospitals, OB and pediatric practices, human service agencies and the media for helping to spread the safe sleep message that babies should always sleep alone on their backs, in an approved crib or bassinet, with no pillows, blankets, crib bumpers of toys.

According to the Monroe County Department of Public Health, our community has experienced an average of 10 infant deaths a year from 2007 through 2013 due to unsafe sleep practices. We believe that the efforts of so many family and health-related organizations, sharing a consistent safe sleep message, has helped make this year one of the safest for babies.

Help us keep up the good work! Share the safe sleep message with any of your friends, co-workers, family  members and neighbors who have or care for an infant.
